FOR ANYONE:
Robin Skynner & John Cleese: ‘Families and how to survive them’, ‘Life and how to survive it’. Both published in London by Mandarin
Sue Gerhardt (2004) ‘Why love matters’. London: Routledge
Between them, these three books cover most of what is important about ‘what makes human beings tick’. Very valuable aid to self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
Robert de Board (1998) ‘Counselling for Toads’. London: Routledge
An entertaining and informative look at how therapy/counselling might be experienced by Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows (and by human clients!).
Meredith Belbin ‘Team Roles’
This is a tool I use alongside the Myers-Briggs to help with developing self-awareness
FOR PEOPLE RESEARCHING PSYCHOLOGICAL INSIGHTS INTO OUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
Lisa Feldman Barrett (2008) ‘What is an emotion?’ video of a conference presentation.
This is an academic, but accessible, presentation of recent psychological research into the nature of emotions.

Isabel Briggs Myers & Peter B. Myers (1993) ‘Gifts Differing’. Palo Alto: Consulting Psychologists Press.
This is a very readable book outlining theory and research relating to Myers-Briggs personality types, by one of the creators of the test.
